Dorothy Goodon Obituary

Dorothy R. Goodon, age 85, native of Norton Kansas and resident of Madison County for over 25 years, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, April 22, 2018 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice in Defiance.  She was born in Norton on February 12, 1933 to the late Elmer Mapes and Blanche (Mathes) Mapes.  Dorothy graduated from Norton High School in 1949.  She later married Guy Goodon on October 23, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2010.  Dorothy served as a restaurant manager for over 10 years with the Country Kettle in Midland, TX.  She and her late husband hobbied in woodworking and later Dorothy enjoyed being outside in nature, sewing and especially Bingo; where she was a frequent attendee at the Delta American Legion’s “bingo night”.  Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Claire (Robert) Lee of Dix, Nebraska; Bonnie (Steve) Noe of Toney, AL; Glenda (Corwin) Reigsecker of Delta, OH; Guyla (Doug) Gilbert of Conway, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her three brothers and four sisters. In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no visitation and burial will be private for the family in Toney Alabama on May 13, 2018.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Derek Hill Foundation, 8001 Arlie Ln., North Richland Hills, Texas 76182.  Arrangements were entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta, OH.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
