Joan T. Cooper, age 74, of Delta, Ohio and formerly of Columbus and Worthington, died at home Saturday, February 9, 2013.  Born in Creola, Ohio to the late James and Pauline Cooper, Joan lived on a farm with her grandparents until the age of five.  The family moved to Fulton, Ohio and she entered school at Mt. Gilead.  Later they moved to Columbus and she attended Hubbard Avenue Elementary and Everett Junior High Schools.  In 1950, they settled in Worthington where she finished her schooling and graduated from Worthington High School, Class of 1956.  Joan attended Bliss College and worked in a stock broker’s office and later moved to Washington D. C. to work for the weather bureau.  When she returned to Worthington, Joan worked for a short time at Worthington Savings Bank and then took the Head Bookkeepers position at Worthington Hardware where she would work for the next 23 years.  She retired from Donald Kelley & Associates after 15 years of service there.  Joan continued to live in the Columbus area until 2005 when she moved to Delta, Ohio to be near her family.  As a member of Turkey Foot Trotters Square Dance Club, she loved to dance and met many new friends.  Joan always felt she had lived a full life and, although she had endured many illnesses, she enjoyed laughter and wanted others to enjoy their time with her.  She was always surrounded by her cousins’ children and loved them dearly.  Joan is survived by her cousins; Sharon (Bob Janes) Hankinson of Swanton, OH, Gerald (Vickie) Hankinson of Liberty Center, Lonnie (Tracie) Hankinson of Swanton, Leroy (Sarah) Hankinson of Delta  and Shawn Hankinson of Swanton.  She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Jim and Pauline.  Friends will be received from 5-7 PM on Tuesday evening, February 12, 2013 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta.  Visitation will also be held from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, Worthington Chapel, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085; with a funeral service for Joan beginning at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery in Worthington.  The omission of flowers is requested.  Please consider a memorial contribution to the Special Wish Foundation, 1250 Memory Lane, North, Columbus, OH 43209, www.spwish.org.
