Carolyn F. (Howe) Coger

Carolyn F. Coger, age 82, of Wauseon, with her family by her side; peacefully passed away Friday afternoon, February 2, 2018 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice in Defiance.   She was born at her family’s home in Wood County on January 13, 1936 one of six children born to the late Earl Howe Sr. and Beulah (Drummond) Howe.  Carolyn was a graduate of Waite High School.  Before retiring she worked at McCord Corporation in Wauseon for over 30 years and later served part time at Walmart in Wauseon.  Carolyn was a member of the Wauseon American Legion Auxiliary, serving as a past president and Wauseon VFW Auxiliary, where she helped cook and was well known for her pies and gravy  She was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Detroit Tigers fan.  Carolyn is survived by her children; Timm D. Coger of Wauseon, Matthew A. Coger of Arcadia, Bryan K. Coger of Wauseon, Nancy (Anthony) Dawson of Delta and Peggy (Michael) Christman of Wauseon; sister, Gloria (Jim) Martin of Panama City, FL; grandchildren, Stefanie Coger, Shane Wolf, Jacob Dawson, Alexandra Rhodes, Sydney Coger, Haylie Coger, Brianna Coger and great grandchildren, Harper Cheney, Jack Dawson, and Elijah Torres.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Mark A. Coger; infant granddaughter, Kylie R. Dawson and siblings, Earl Howe Jr., Irma Aiken, Lois Hoel and Donna Harless.  Friends will be received from 4:00 -8:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.  A funeral service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday February 6, 2018 also at the funeral home.  Pastor Donna Stutzman will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Ottokee Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the COPD Foundation, 1140 3rd Street NE, 2nd Floor, Washington, DC 20002 or go to www.copdfoundation.org to make a donation in her memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
