Chad D. Spiess, age 51, of Delta, passed away at his home unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 16, 2014 from a hunting accident.  He was born in Wauseon on August 14, 1962 to the late Sue (Linn) Spiess and Merril L. Spiess who survives.  Chad was a 1981 graduate of Delta High School.  He worked for ODOT for 19 years, last of which he was a sign crew supervisor.  Before his career with ODOT he was an owner and trainer of Thoroughbred race horses.  Chad enjoyed hunting, trading and looking for mushrooms at his property up North.  Most of all he loved his son, family and friends; enjoying every moment with them and making memories that will last forever.  In addition to his father, Merril L. Spiess; he is survived by his son, Cody Spiess; life companion, Lisa Minnick; brother, Shane (fiancée, Tracey Wisner) Spiess; sisters, Jodie (Dale Peters) Spiess, Cindy (Mike) Parker and Jill (Rick) Shehorn; former wife, Linda Viers-Rorick; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Kendra) Spiess, Kam (Mo) Spiess, Josh (Trena) Shehorn, Toby (Jera) Shehorn, Richy (Kelsie) Shehorn, Blake, Ben and Brett Parker and many loving great nieces and nephews.  Friends may visit from 2:00-8:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta.  A funeral service for Chad will be held at Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, Ohio 43515 at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.  Pastors Mitch Maxted and Jay Miklovic will be officiating.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy may consider the Delta EMS, 500 E.
