Dear Ken, Alanna, Gary, Diane and entire Lohman family,

We didn't have the pleasure of knowing David but he would always have a friendly "Hi" and smile when we would see him and his wife. From reading the other condolences it sounds like he was a special principal and friend to many. May God's loving arms be around all of you now and in the days to come.

Mr. Lohman was my first principal after graduating from U. T. In the summer of 1969. I was 21 and continued my professional career for 38 more years, the first 12 at Park Elementary. The very best leader and guide that a young woman could have wished for. The students were the most important beings in the building and if you lost sight of that , he was quick to remind. He was a supporter of new ideas and best practices and I will always be grateful. I went on to impact many lives and he gave me my first chance with a big "atta girl" Thank you Mr. Lohman.

My heart breaks for you Alta. You and Dave were amazing neighbors. I feel so blessed to have had you and Dave as a part of my life, as well as my children's lives. We never had to worry about what the Rainbow drive kids were doing, Dave always watched out for the, and let us know. Alta, I am holding you in my prayers, as God holds you in his arms and carries you through this difficult journey.

I remember going home from school at Swanton Twp and telling my mom about our principal Mr. Lohman. That he was soooo tall and so nice. He always had a smile on his face and talked to all of us kids. He has always been one of my best memories of school! Rest in peace Mr. Lohman..
To the family, our deepest sympathy.

My mom taught at Swanton Twp when Mr. lohman was principal. He was such a kind and caring man.. He would take time out of his busy schedule to talk whenever I visited ,whether I was there as a student ( kindegarten) or just visiting mom.
RIP sir.

Mr Lohman was the principal at Swanton Elementary when I attended in the mid 60's. I also had Mrs Raker as a teacher. I remember them both well.
We were taught that the Principal was a person of authority and should be respected, which we did, but Mr Lohman always had a smile and was very kind to the students.
Both of these educators did a great job of molding young minds.

I have often thought of this man over the years. He was principal for Swanton schools. He was always kind and understanding to all of the children. He always had a big smile, and a kind word for all of us.He would be by the doors as we left for Holidays or summer vacation, wishing us Merry Christmas , or Have a great summer. Some people speak empty words, but this man meant what he said to us. He had a genuine love & support for all of us. Rest in peace Mr.Lohman. You were a blessing to many.

Mr. Lohman was a principal in Swanton while I was in school. His gentle demeanor, his smile and his caring made every day at school something to look forward to. He left a huge impression on me when I was young. I have often thought of him over the years. He had that extra "magic" that drew kids to him. I was very fortunate to know this gentleman. He had a impact that I can't quite put into words but I am thankful. May he rest in Peace. May God give you all strength as you go through this hard time.

At Swanton's Park Elementary school- during a recess I kicked a playground ball way up as the wind caught it and hit him in his arm that had a cast on it. I was Most Apologetic as he was cool with that-as I sweated bullets. One Grand man, with a Glorious family.....Heaven gains an Angel , as his family loses one.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Dave was a very good bowler and I enjoyed bowling against him. Dave was always competitive, a good sport and also a challenge -even if we were evenly matched in average. He always had a smile and was willing to help if you were struggling. As a brother Elk member his memory will be forever held among us, "thus the vacant chair. " we shall meet, but we shall miss him, There will be a vacant chair,But though we no more possess him, Still our hearts his memory bare. But a while ago we gathered, Friendship beaming in each eye,Now the golden cord is severed, He has passed to realms on high. Amen.
