Robert E. “Trigger” Smith, age 71, of Swanton, with his loving family bedside, passed away Thursday morning August 31, 2017 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.  He was born in Woodland, CA on June 1, 1946 to the late Stanley Pritchett and Helen Whitcomb and later adopted and lovingly raised by David W. Smith and his mother, Helen.  Trigger attended Delta High School.  On July 16, 1965 he married Bonita Fausey and she survives.  In 1979 he purchased the family auto parts business, known as Soul Road Auto Parts, from his parents.  Over the years he developed the business into a trucking company which grew into one of the area’s largest.  Trigger was also an avid Chevy car enthusiast; which he collected.  His assortment of vehicles can be viewed at Gmmgregistry.com under Trigger’s GMMG’s.  Along with his hobby of collecting his favorite vehicles, Trigger also had a love for drag racing, which he attended and often participated in.  Along with his wife of 52 years, Bonita, he is also survived by three children, Tammy (Marty) Smith-Collum of Delta, David (Michelle) Smith of Swanton and Angela (Billy) Buehrer of West Unity; brothers, Jack Smith of Ocala, FL and Dan (Darla) Smith of Paulding; sister, Karen (Eddie) Murphy of Columbia, LA; grandchildren, Andrea (Wesley) Murrey, Amber Hardy, Jason (Stephanie) Hardy, Stefani Smith (fiancé Brad Dutcher), Melani Smith, and Bryce Buehrer; great grandchildren, Brayden, Aubree, Camden, and Jaxon.  Friends and family will be received from 5:00 -8:00 PM on Sunday, September 3, 2017 and on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.  In honoring Trigger’s request please keep dress attire as casual and informal.  A celebration of life gathering and reception will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Delta American Legion, 5939 St. Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515; in which the family encourages those attending to bring stories and special moments of Trigger to share openly with others.  A private graveside service at Wauseon Union Cemetery will precede the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Special Wish Foundation, 5814 Woodside Trail, Toledo, Ohio 43623, c/o Susan Koester in Trigger’s memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com
