Herbert R. Elton, age 87, of Delta, passed away Friday morning, March 2, 2012, at the Swanton Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center.  One of two sons, he was born in Delta on February 6, 1925, to the late Ray Elton and Dora (Snyder) Elton.  Herbert served during WWII with the U.S Navy.  On March 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Alice Favorite.  Herbert retired from Wauseon Manufacturing, after working many years as a foreman.  Herbert was a member of the Delta American Legion and found great joy from coaching Delta Little League Baseball.  Other hobbies included farming, hunting and fishing.  Most of all, Herbert enjoyed quality time with his grandchildren and watching them participate in all their sporting activities.  He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice (Favorite) Elton; children, Edward (Gail) Elton of Delta, Susan (Doug) Bateson of Delta and Thomas (Gail) Elton of Swanton; brother, Richard (Jane) Elton of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Elton, Jody (Said) Rukieh, John (Kimi) Elton, Kristy (Adam) Gardner, Tige (Shannon) Bateson, Craig (Nicole) Elton and Scott (Sarah) Elton and great grandchildren, Mazin, Anna, Nathan, Blake, Hunter, Payton, Lyla, Liam and two on the way.  In honoring Herbert's wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.  Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the American Legion Post 373, 5939 State Route 109, Delta, Ohio 43515.  Arrangements were entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta.
