Homer E. Durbin, age 86, of Delta, passed away early Sunday morning, January 6, 2013 at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon. He was born in Delta on March 18, 1926 to the late Archie Durbin and Edna (Murray) Durbin. Homer attended Haller Schools for 8 years before graduating from Delta High School. On February 6, 1949 he married Herma Dale (Killion) Durbin; enjoying 63 years together. He was a U.S Army Veteran having served in Korea from 1946 - 1947. Homer was a farmer and also worked as a railroad car inspector for 37 years for the Wabash and DTI Railroads. Homer was a member of The Delta United Methodist Church, a Mason with Fulton Lodge #248 F&AM for over 50 years, and a lifetime member of the Napoleon AMVETS. In addition to his wife, Herma Dale, he is survived by his children, Betty Jane Durbin of Laura, OH, Helen E. (Alan) Weese of Delta, MaryAnn Durbin of Delta and Edward A. (Norma) Durbin of Swanton; brother, Lowell (Beulah) Durbin of Bryan; grandchildren, Richard Prater, Melissa Prater, Brandy (Jason) Beck, Michael (Carey) Durbin and Samantha Durbin; great grandchildren, Bradon, Mallory and Tirzah Beck and Myla, Vivian and Addison Durbin; special nephew, Tim (Jeanne) Durbin and many more loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Louise Wells. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; with a Masonic Service at 7:30 PM. A funeral service celebrating Homer's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Jay Miklovic will be officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
