Jerry V. "Jer Bear" Gillingham, age 73 of West Unity, passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday, July 18, 2015.  He was born on June 21, 1942 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Carl Gillingham and Anna (Knapp) Gillingham.  Jerry retired from ODOT in Wauseon after many years of service. He was a member of the Wildwood Bowman Club in Delta. Jerry enjoyed hunting, especially deer and bear, fishing and searching for wild mushrooms. Jerry is survived by his children, Scott (Michelle) Gillingham, Tonja (Michael) Broud and Kim Gillingham; brother, Ronald (Bonnie) Gillingham; grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Gillingham and great grandchildren, Chloe, Carter and Coda Hagen.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol A. Gillingham. A memorial service for Jerry will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. prior to the service. Private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta at a later date.
