John "Jack" P. Mizer, age 82, recently of Toledo and longtime resident of Delta, passed away at his home Sunday morning, July 1, 2012 while under hospice care.  He was born in Delta on February 28, 1930 to the late Paul W. and Carrie Valleda (Bittikofer) Mizer.  Jack graduated from Fulton School or "Ai Tech", as he called it and was president of his senior class.  He was a Veteran having served in the US Army.  Jack will be sorely missed by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jo (Leffel) and his three children, Stephan (Marge) Mizer of Sylvania, Dawn (Chris) Budd of Blissfield, MI and Mark (Lesta) Mizer of Oregon, OH; brother, Thomas (Pat) Mizer of Medina, OH; sister, Donna Ellis of Burlington, VT; and grandchildren, Stephanie Mizer, Marissa (Justin) Rex, Stephan Mizer II, Kelsey Gray, Taylor Cambal and Erin Cambal.  He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Keller, Iris Mizer and Sue Frantz-Spencer.  Jack could tell a joke a minute, loved golf, gardening and most of all watching his children and grandchildren play various sports, including softball and baseball.  He loved to hunt, play pool and was known for his homemade wines.  He was an avid Detroit Tigers and OSU Buckeye fan.  Jack had a great bass voice and sang in the Delta United Methodist Church choir for over 30 years.  He was a route driver for City Dust Control for many years.  After retirement he did greenhouse work, which he enjoyed.  Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta.  A funeral service for Jack will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, OH 43515.  Pastor Jay Miklovic will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
