Keith R. Shelt, age 85 of Delta, passed away Tuesday evening, March 20, 2012 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was born July 7, 1926 in Swanton to the late Clarence Shelt and Letha (Clapper) Shelt. He was a 1945 graduate of Delta High School and lived all his life in Delta. He was a WWII veteran having served with the U.S Marines. Keith worked at Pine Tree Dairy and then 34 years at Markey Bronze. On February 28, 1948, Keith and Ruth Brown were united in marriage. To this union they were blessed with seven children; Nancy (Garry) Ritchey of Allen, MI; Kathy (Brent) Rhoads of Circleville; Ron (Deb) Shelt of Swanton; Marilyn (Jack) Mason of Whitehouse, Daryl (Sally Roach) of Delta; and Dennis (Deb Hawkey) of Edgerton. He is also survived by his sister, Alice (Lowell) Mull; brother Clarence (Maxine) Shelt; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by, brother, Don Shelt and daughter, Carol Miller. Keith was called into military service 3 months into his senior year of high school and proudly served in the Marines during World War II. He was a Boy Scout leader for 40 years and active for 64 years in the American Legion and a life member. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 2-8 PM at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; with an American Legion Service at 7:30 PM. A funeral service celebrating Keith's life to be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Jay Miklovic will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
