Obituary

Kelly James Barber I, age 48, of Lyons, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Toledo Hospital. He was born in Morenci, MI on June 21, 1963 to the late John Barber and Norah Jane (Coffey) Barber, who survives. Kelly was a 1982 graduate of Waldon High School, where he was a member of the football team and FFA.  From 1985 to 1990 he was a member of the Morenci Fire Dept.  In March of 1991, Kelly married Vickie Yancy Ayers, who was by his side to the very end.  He was a truck driver for various companies throughout his life.  Some of Kelly's memberships and commitments included; a volunteer with the 180th Air National Guard, Family Readiness Group, Suzann G. Koman Race for the Cure, a 10 year advisor for the Fulton County 4-H, a 10 year Assembly of God Royal Ranger Commander, vice-president and secretary for Winameg Sportsman's Club, 12 year member of the Delta Assembly of God and 8 year member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Toledo.  His fondest hobbies included; hunting, fishing, camping and especially participating in historical reenactments with his wife.  Most of all he loved Jesus and wanted his life to reflect the love of God.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Barber, grandparents and a great nephew.  Kelly is survived by his wife, Vickie; sons, Gabriel and Kelly Barber II; mother, Norah Jane Barber; sisters, Theresa (Fred) Gay, Nancy (Jim) Bowen, Polly (Ben) Fish, Kathy (Dave) Vanlerberg, Shirley (Don) Myers; brother, Kevin (Dawn) Barber and many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved very much.  He will be greatly missed.  Friends and family will be received at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta, from 5-8 PM on Friday, February 24, 2012.  A funeral service celebrating Kelly's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at the Delta Assembly of God, 405 W. Main St., in Delta.  Pastor Randy Trowbridge will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Amboy Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the family.
