Lewis G. "Lew" Makula, age 65, of Delta, with his loving family by his side; passed away at his home Sunday evening, April 1, 2012. He was born in Napoleon on December 5, 1946 one of three sons to the late Lewis Makula and Mary (Carpenter) Makula, who survives. Lew graduated from Delta High School in 1965 and served with the U.S Army during Vietnam; where he was awarded the Purple Heart. After returning from the military, he established Trick Trucks-N-Stuff in Lima. Later Lew worked for Auto Exotica and George Becker Restoration both of Wauseon; before helping his son Scott with their family business, Sonic Leak Locators in Pompano Beach, FL. He was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church, Delta American Legion and the Delta Eagles. In addition to his father, Lewis Makula; he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Makula. Lew is survived by his wife Annette (Kistner) Makula; mother, Mary Makula, children, Michelle (Greg) Herzig of Florida, Scott (Jennifer) Makula of Florida, Luann (Freddie) Stiriz and Ronnie Hallett both of Wauseon; brother, Larry (Gail) Makula of Mesa, AZ; stepchildren, Matt (Kim) McQuillin and Kyle (Ginger) McQuillin; grandchildren, Michael Herzig, Matthew and Kylee Makula, Paige and Chloe Stiriz, Cassie and Hunter Hallett; step grandchildren, Drew, Madison and Lexe McQuillin and loving nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; with an American Legion service at 7:30 PM. A memorial service celebrating Lew's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, Ohio 43515. Pastor Jay Miklovic will be officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Swanton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to make donations to the Delta United Methodist Church or the Delta American Legion, Post 373, 5939 St Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515 in Lew's memory.
