Richard Charles Beach, age 85, formerly of Liberty Center and Lexington, South Carolina, passed away at The Toledo Hospital in the early hours of Monday, November 4, 2024. He was born to the late Norman and Irma (Horvath) Southard in Toledo, Ohio on May 27, 1939. Richard attended Woodward High School and before graduating enlisted early and served in the United States Army from 1956-1959. On September 12, 1959, he married the love of his life, Edna Florea and remain married for 44 years until her passing on June 25, 2003. Richard worked as a pipe fitter for Chrysler for 15 years and then transferred to Lima, Ohio where he served with the Army Tank Plant and General Dynamics before retiring from General Motors.  He had many hobbies throughout his life, but some that gave the greatest enjoyment were woodworking and building Model Trains and scenery construction, which even consisted of a 4 level display in his home.  Richard had a love for dogs and in 1978, Richard and his wife began "RE Country Kennel" a dog kennel business and continued to operate it until 2004.  Left to cherish his memory are his son, John (Leota) Beach of Liberty Center, Ohio; daughter by choice, Helen (John Depner) Ward; grandchildren, Ashley (Scotty) Stroud, Danielle (Troy) Walker, Bryant Beach and Haley Nowak; great grandchildren, Kinzey, Braxton, Kody and Rosemary; niece, Debra (David) Hansen of Georgia  In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Cyndy Beach Gomez in 2016.  A private celebration of life will be held by the family to honor Richard's wishes.  Arrangements have been entrusted with Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta, Ohio 43515.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Henry County Humane Society, 1136 Independence Dr., Napoleon, Ohio 43545 or your local humane society in Richard's memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
