Thomas D. Childress Jr., age 36, of Delta, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Toledo Hospital.  He was born in Toledo on May 5, 1977 to Thomas Childress Sr. and Lois (Hicks) Childress.  Tom was a 1995 graduate of Delta High School.  He was employed as the auto body manager for Childress Collision in Delta.  Some of Tom's fondest hobbies included OSU football, dirt track racing; which he was a member of the T3G family of racing fans.  He also was an avid music enthusiast, enjoying heavy metal, alternative and others.  After graduation Tom helped coach football and later kept statistics for the Delta football program until recent.  Tom was blessed with a giving heart, often going above and beyond to help people in need.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancée, Shannon Howard Anstine; paternal grandparents, Ralph (Ruth) Smith; maternal grandmother, Delores Hicks; canine siblings, "Griffey" and "Zowie"; loving aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends.  Tom was preceded in death by his infant sister, Jamie Lynn Childress; grandparents, Paul Childress, Martha Childress Smith and Marion Hicks.  Friends will be received from 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.  A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday at the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr. in Delta.  Pastor Jay Miklovic will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.  In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to be made to the PDY Foundation c/o Field House Building Project, 504 Fernwood St., Delta, Ohio 43515 in Toms' memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
