William "Bill" Adkins, age 78, of Delta, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, January 25, 2013 at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon. He was born in Corbin, KY on December 14, 1934 to the late Joe Adkins and Fanny (Taylor) Adkins. Bill graduated from Corbin High School in Kentucky in 1953 and Morehead State University in 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He later married Margaret Kay McMasters on January 26, 1957 and they enjoyed 56 loving years together. Bill was a Physical Education and Industrial Arts teacher at Delta High School; where he also coached football. After a short time, he took the Industrial Arts position at Libbey High School in Toledo; where he taught most of his career before retiring. Along with teaching, Bill worked for over 30 years at Dunbar Mechanical. One of his fondest hobbies was fishing, whether night fishing or ice fishing, he enjoyed it all. Bill was a member of the Delta Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Adkins in 1980. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kay Adkins; daughter, Holly (Mike) Shindorf; brother, Tom (Barbara) Adkins of Oakridge, TN; sister, Peggy ("Red") McNabb of Oakridge, TN; grandchildren, Addy (Christie) Shindorf, Whitney and Taylor Shindorf and many loving friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta; where a memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday. Pastor David Underwood will be officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
