William "Cliff" May, age 81, of Napoleon, after a short illness, passed away at his home Saturday morning, August 18, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born on October 6, 1930 in Carrollton, KY to the late Roy May and Rella (Stanley) May. Cliff and his wife Grace (Rabourn) May were members of the Baptist Church in English, KY before their marriage in 1955; later they were both baptized in Mill Creek, KY. Cliff was a veteran, having served in the U.S Army during the Korean War. After his service time, he worked as a machine operator for Globe Weis, until his retirement and their closing in 1980. Cliff was a caring husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He lived life to the fullest. Cliff and his wife enjoyed 15 years during winter months in Arizona; from which the weather aided his health. He and Grace returned home from Arizona about 3 years ago with the decision to spend the rest of his days with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Grace E. May; children, Randal (Janine) May of Malinta, Cathy (Victor) Oberhaus of Napoleon, Brenda (Lee) Faunce of Wauseon and Melanie (Robert) Filipovich of Delta; brothers, Carroll May of Wauseon, Danny May of Madison, IN and Roy May of Madison, IN; sisters, Mabel Tilley of Carrollton, KY, Violet Skirvin of Madison, IN, Barbara Lucas of Franklin, IN, Nettie Herring of Cincinnati and Donna Jean of Dallas, TX; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by his 2 year old son, Rickey Dale May; brother, Eugene May and sisters, Anna Bickley and Shirley Walace. Cliff was a member of the Wauseon American Legion and Wauseon VFW. Friends will be received from 2-8 PM on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; where a funeral service honoring Cliff's life will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery. We would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and all of our neighbors and friends for the support over these last few months of Cliff's illness. He will be sadly missed by all and we know he is with God and will have no more pain.
