Arvis E (Spiess) Weaks

Arvis Evon Weaks, age 87 of Liberty Center, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. She was born in Liberty Township on January 7, 1936 to the late Dewey J. and Eva M. (Richards) Spiess. Arvis was a 1953 graduate of Liberty Center High School. On May 1, 1955, she married Maurice Lee Weaks. Arvis loved to garden, cook, bake, and paint. She cooked for the Wooden Nickel Restaurant for several years. Arvis was the Food Service Supervisor for the Liberty Center Schools for 23 years. She was active in many ministries including the local food pantry, Gleaners, Open Door, and church missions. Arvis also played the piano and organ for church services. She was a member of the Shiloh Christian Union Church in Delta, Ohio. Arvis is survived by her children Nathan (Lori) Weaks of Swanton; Margaret (Tom) Blakney of Hungry Horse, MT; Carmen (Greg) Ray of Napoleon; Mary (Mike) Granger of Davison, MI; Roger (Mary) Weaks of Waverly, OH; and John (Kati) Weaks of Napoleon. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Steve Lindberg (dec.), Ron (Laura) Lindberg, Joshua Blakney, Beth Taylor, Ryan Granger, David (Tati) Weaks, Lindsay (Josh) Brink, Stephanie Granger, Emily (Ron) Knauff, Jessica (Cyrus) Porter, Evan Weaks, Ariel Weaks (Shaun Gornall), Waverly (Sebastian) Rue, and Cameron Weaks. Arvis was also blessed with 14 great grandchildren. Arvis’ surviving family members also include her sisters Lila Trask (Nampa, ID), Treva Stevens of Liberty Center, Ula Kessler of Liberty Center, and her brother Arlo Spiess (Prescott, AZ). In addition to her husband, parents, and one grandson, Arvis was preceded in death by her brothers Marvin Spiess and Gareld Spiess, her sister Josephine Beck, and son-in-law Fred Lindberg. Friends and family will be received from 2-8 PM on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515 in Delta. A funeral service for Arvis will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Shiloh Christian Union Church, 2100 Co Rd 5, Delta, Ohio 43515. Rev. Roger Weaks will be officiating along with Pastor Chuck Whitmire. Interment will follow at Young Cemetery in Liberty Center.
