James “Jim” G. Griffin, age 52, of Delta, passed away under hospice care at Swanton Valley Rehabilitation and Care Center after battling cancer for two months. He was born in Wauseon on June 26, 1969 to Glenn D. Griffin who survives and the late Martha (Cully) Griffin Mansfield. Jim graduated from Delta High School in 1988. He later married the love of his life, Carie L. Mathers who passed away on June 11, 2006. For 31 years, Jim worked at Triangular Processing in Wauseon. Along with being an Ohio State Buckeye fan, he enjoyed fishing, trap shooting and motorcycling; especially dirt bike, road bike and ice bike. Jim had a kind and giving heart and it showed by always helping family and friends as well as volunteering at the Fulton County Fair for the last 15 years. Jim is survived by his father and stepmother, Glenn (MaryAnn) Griffin of Delta; sisters, Mickey (Randy) Volkman of Delta, Marjorie Maze of Delta, Wendy Griffin of Delta; brother, Michael (Brandy) Mansfield of Defiance; aunts, uncles, many loving nieces and nephews, including his newest little buddy Colson and many lifelong friends. Friends and family will be received at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta, OH from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. A funeral service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 also at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Lulfs will be officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Delta.
