Mark E. Wilhelm, age 61, of Wauseon, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away Tuesday night, August 16, 2022 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice in Defiance, surrounded by his family. He was born in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late James Wilhelm and Barbara (Schnee) Wilhelm, who survives. After graduating from Delta High School, he went on to technical college where he became a millwright and served over 25 years with Bullard Company. Mark married Jodi Gerken on September 8, 1984 and together were blessed with their daughter, Morgan. Mark was a quiet man who enjoyed simple things, like yardwork, camping next to a good fire, cooking and tinkering in his workshop. He also enjoyed college football and was an avid OSU fan. Mark is survived by his mother, Barbara A. Crosser; daughter, Morgan T. (Joe) Schneider; sisters, Trena (Jorge) Carrizales, Danette (Steve) Borck, Dawn (John Jr) Trowbridge, Nedra Kuntz, Robin (Michael) Knierim; brother, Bryan (Carol) Wilhelm; mother-in-law, Lois Gerken; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jodi D. Wilhelm; father, James Wilhelm; sister, Tamara Kruse and father-in-law, Robert Gerken. Friends will be received from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating Mark’s life will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 also at the funeral home. Pastor Scott Kirsch will be officiating. Interment will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery.
