Alan David “Dave” Desgrange, age 71, of Swanton, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. He was born in Napoleon, Ohio, on December 6, 1954, to the late Albert David Desgrange and Ruth (Crawford) Desgrange. Alan was a graduate of Liberty Center High School and went on to attend the University of Toledo, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He began his career locally at Koncor in Wauseon for 18 years. Alan later continued his career in quality control with WIKA, Johnson Controls, Siemens and Tenneco; working in Atlanta, Georgia, El Paso, Texas, and Harrisonburg, Virginia for over 20 years. Alan eventually retired from Chrysler but remained active by working part-time with Wauseon Machine. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Napoleon. Alan was a devoted supporter of Liberty Center athletics and could often be found cheering on their football, basketball, track, and wrestling teams. He enjoyed browsing Marketplace, attending car swap meets, and especially restoring cars alongside his son. Among their most recent projects were a Firebird and an Austin-Healey. Alan cherished time spent with family and friends, often gathering for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. He had a knack for disco dancing, took pride in home improvement projects, and enjoyed collecting items for his dream hi-fi stereo room. He was also a dedicated fan of Ohio State University football. Alan is survived by his son, Chad (Jeanette) Desgrange; sister, Marylyn (Larry) Jeffers; brother, Doug (Deb) Desgrange; grandchildren, Taylor Desgrange, Devyn (Noemi) McIntosh, and Quinn McIntosh; great-grandchildren, Darla Green, Johnathan Green, Colten Tensley, Marley McIntosh and Maverick McIntosh; and loving nephews, Ryan Desgrange, Jason Desgrange, Jeremy Desgrange, and Justin Jeffers. Friends and family may gather for a time of visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 State Highway 109 in Delta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Center Schools, Attention: Athletic Department, 100 Tiger Trail, Liberty Center, Ohio 43532 in Alan’s memory.
