Gene Glen Weber, age 88, of Delta, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at The Toledo Hospital, with his loving son, Roger, by his side. He was born on June 17, 1937, in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Glen W. Weber and Lillie (Bish) Weber. Gene was a 1955 graduate of Pettisville High School. Following graduation, he worked alongside his family on the farm until the age of 28. During those years, he also held positions with Wauseon Manufacturing and Lugbill Supply Center in Archbold. Gene later began a long and dedicated career with Tenneco in Napoleon, where he faithfully served for 39 years before retiring. Gene was united in marriage to late Betty Lou Seiler, and together they were blessed with their son, Roger. A man who appreciated the simple joys of life, Gene had a deep love for agriculture and community traditions. He enjoyed attending county fairs, especially the Fulton County Fair, where he was a familiar face at the tractor pulls and National Threshers. He was also a devoted attendee of the National Tractor Pulling Championships in Bowling Green, rarely missing the event. Gene enjoyed traveling on bus trips across many states, taking in the beauty of God’s creation along the way. In quieter moments, he could often be found watching his favorite western television programs, especially “The Rifleman” and “Gunsmoke.” Gene also had a caring and generous spirit. He was a faithful blood donor and served as a union steward during his time at Tenneco, assisting fellow members as they transitioned into retirement and applied for benefits. Above all, Gene cherished his family. He enjoyed joining them on vacations, including trips to Cedar Point and other destinations, and he rarely missed a grandchild’s school activity. He took great pride in his home, often seen tending to his lawn and enjoying the outdoors. Gene’s memory will be forever treasured by his son, Roger (fiancée, Leslie) Weber of Adrian, Michigan; grandchildren, Abby, Reece, and Alexis “Lexi” Weber; nieces, Janet (Joey) Taylor and Amy Moore and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife and lifelong friend, Betty Lou Weber, who passed away on October 7, 2024; his brother, Gail L. Weber, who passed away on November 24, 2011 and nephew-in-law, Bill Moore on March 4, 2022. Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 State Highway 109 in Delta. A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Smith Cemetery near Tedrow, with Pastor Matthew Voyer officiating. Those wishing to express sympathy may make contributions to the family, care of Roger G. Weber, for a charitable cause to be determined in Gene’s memory.
