John Jr. Adams, age 81, of Swanton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with his family by his side at Lakes of Monclova, where he had recently resided. He was born in Toledo on September 13, 1944, to the late Jesse Adams and Marjorie (Wilson) Adams. John attended Swanton High School and went on to dedicate over 30 years of service as a machine repairman with Jeep Corporation. He was a proud member of the Delta American Legion. John found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved playing slot machines and bingo, as well as spending time playing cards and dominoes with his family. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and metal detecting. He was also a talented woodworker, crafting beautiful pieces that he generously shared with family and friends. He is survived by his loving daughters, Jody (John) Herriott of Swanton and Christy (Michael Borton) Bergeon of Texas; brothers, Richard, Marvin, and Leslie Adams; sisters, Barb Poling, Mary (David) Morris, Susie (Phil) Wiland, Gail Sager, Carol (Don) Wiland, and Diane Irelan; grandchildren, Joshua (Kaci) Herriott, Jacob (Kara) Herriott, Quinn (Lucian) Rusu, Breanne Bergeon, and Brayden Bergeon; and great-grandchildren, Greyson Herriott, Owen Herriott, Madelynn Rusu, and Abigail Rusu. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Brian Bergeon; brother, James; sisters, Joyce and Wilma; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no public services. Private interment will take place at Swanton Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 State Highway 109, Delta, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 10220 Waterville St., Whitehouse, Ohio 43571, in John’s memory. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lakes of Monclova and Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care given to John.
