Sarah L. Widman

Sarah L. Widman, age 84, of Toledo, peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2026, at Swanton Valley Rehabilitation and Care Center. She was born in Toledo on May 28, 1941, to Lloyd K. Widman and Arlene (Innes) Widman. Sarah was a graduate of Waite High School and went on to attend Bowling Green State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She later achieved her Master’s Degree, furthering her passion for teaching. Sarah dedicated more than 32 years to education. She began her career as an English teacher at Libbey High School, Waite High School, and Macomber High School. She later served as an elementary school librarian with Toledo Public Schools, where she remained until her retirement. An avid reader, Sarah found great joy in literature and lifelong learning. She also loved to travel and especially cherished her trips to Europe with her sister, including time spent in England. There, she developed a deep appreciation for British culture and humor, which carried over into her enjoyment of British films and sitcoms. Sarah also had a deep love for animals, particularly her feline companions over the years, which inspired her to volunteer with the Toledo Humane Society. She is survived by her sister, Arlene Swora of Liberty Center; her nephew, Joe (Becky) Swora of Columbus; and cousins, John Innes and Michael Innes. In addition to her parents, Lloyd and Arlene Widman, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Matthew J. Swora. There will be no public services. Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 State Highway 109 in Delta, has been entrusted with arrangements.
