Alice I. (Stickley) Shumaker

Alice I. Shumaker, age 106, peacefully passed away Wednesday night, March 9, 2022 at Fulton Manor in Wauseon.  She was born in Wauseon on June 12, 1915 to Frank Stickley and Ellen (Simmons) Stickley.  Alice graduated from Wauseon High School in 1933 and later married Clarence “Dutch” Shumaker.  She worked at Devilbiss prior to her marriage and when her sons were older, returned to work at Mohr’s Five and Ten, Hafners, the American Cancer Society in Wauseon and later was manager for Dollar General in Delta.  After retirement, Alice lived in Delta until moving to Fulton Manor; where she resided until her passing.  She is survived by her son, Thomas (Candace) Shumaker; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren.  Alice was also preceded in death by her sons, Larry (Janet) Shumaker, Donald (Marleen) and Halcott who died in infancy; brother, Alfred Stickley and sisters, Murial Hite and Lillian Batdorf.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; where a funeral service for Alice will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday.  Pastor Dawn Trapp will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery.  Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society, P.O Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 in her memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
