Ruth J. Zimmerman, 95, passed away on December 31, 2018, a resident of Wauseon, Ohio. Ruth was born on July 14, 1923 to Lucy (Davis) and Frederick Perrin in Perrysburg, Ohio. On November 28, 1941 Ruth married Wayne H. Zimmerman. They were blessed with four daughters, Bonnie, Lynn, Angela and Sherrin. Bonnie and Lynn passed away at age 14 as a result of Batten disease. Their illness was the incentive for Ruth and Wayne to work tirelessly to help start Happ-I-Time School for children with special needs which is now the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities. In 1962 Ruth received The Book of Golden Deeds award from the Exchange Club for her efforts on behalf of handicapped children. In 2015 she was honored as Grand Marshal of the Wauseon Homecoming Parade. Ruth was a journalist who for many years wrote her column "This 'n That" for a Wauseon newspaper and was Editor of The News Press. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Wayne, daughters Bonnie and Lynn, her parents and 7 siblings. She is survived by daughters Angela (Roger) Nagel and Sherrin (David) Dominique, grandchildren Alyssa (Shannon) Nardone, Eric (Kelly) Nagel, Adele (Alfonso) Pena and Aaron (Ashley) Dominique, and 10 great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; with a celebration of life service beginning at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home. Private interment at Wauseon Union Cemetery prior to the service.
