William Heidelberg Obituary

William S. Heidelberg, age 68, of Wauseon and formerly of California, passed away Friday night, June 8, 2018 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.  He was born in Muskogee, OK on October 5, 1949 to the late Robert G. Heidelberg and Sabrie (Farris) Heidelberg.  After graduating from Muskogee Central High School, Bill entered the U.S Navy during the Vietnam War in 1969.  He served as a radioman and decided to make his career with the Navy, serving over 20 years until retiring in 1991.  On August 4, 1973 he married Christine Nicklin in San Diego, CA and together shared 44 years together.  Bill attended Pettisville Missionary Church, and was a member of the DAV and Fulton County Veterans Association; where he was very active, including helping every year with the Bean Soup Dinner at the Fulton County Fair.  He also was proud to play Santa at various nursing homes, schools and Rudy’s Hotdog in Holland, his favorite restaurant.  One of his fondest hobbies was collecting and building model train sets.  Bill is survived by his wife, Christine; sons, Brian (Yolanda Crawford) and Brandon (Yolie Lucia Guittierez) Heidelberg; brother, Larry (Pat) Heidelberg; grandchildren, Lorenna Humphrey, Sabrie Heidelberg, Kiana Heidelberg, Isabella Heidelberg, Bella Guittierez, Ava Guittierez and Benicio “Benny” Heidelberg.  Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Heidelberg.  In honoring Bill’s wishes, there will be no public services.  Arrangements are entrusted with Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.  Those wishing a show of sympathy may make memorial contributions to the family, care of Christine Heidelberg.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
